A Critical Issue with Microsoft Office’s Copy and Paste Functionality Has Been Fixed, But What Does This Mean for Users?

These patches include KB5002665 for Excel 2016, Build 10417.20208 for Office LTSC 2019, Build 14334.20918 for Office LTSC 2021, and Build 17932.21000 for Office LTSC 2024. Users should be aware that these updates are not automatically installed with the security patches.
Interestingly, Microsoft also provided a temporary workaround for scenarios where paste operations continue to fail due to conditional formatting in workbooks. In such cases, users can try using the “Paste Special” option as a temporary fix until a permanent solution is available. This involves clicking on “Paste Special” in the “Paste” drop-down after opening the “Home” tab and choosing what to paste using the Ctrl+Alt+V keyboard shortcut.
