A Kosovar National Pleads Guilty to Running Illicit Cybercrime Marketplace
In a significant victory for law enforcement, Ardit Kutleshi, a 28-year-old Kosovar national, has pleaded guilty to charges related to the creation and administration of Rydox, an online cybercrime marketplace. The US court heard that Kutleshi was involved in the operation of the platform, which allowed cybercriminals to trade stolen personal identifiable information (PII), payment card data, account credentials, and cybercrime tools.
Rydox, which was disrupted by law enforcement in December 2024, had an estimated 18,000 users and facilitated over 7,600 transactions between 2016 and 2024. The platform’s operators received at least $232,000 in revenue from these transactions, with the majority of it being generated through cryptocurrency payments. According to court documents, Rydox offered a vast array of cybercrime products, including stolen information such as names, addresses, credentials, credit cards, and Social Security numbers.
The marketplace also hosted phishing kits, stealer logs, and spamming tools, making it a one-stop shop for cybercriminals looking to engage in various types of malicious activities. The sheer scale of the operation is staggering, with at least 321,372 cybercrime products offered on Rydox.
Kutleshi’s guilty plea comes after he was extradited to the US from Kosovo last year. He faces two years of mandatory prison for aggravated identity theft and up to 20 years in prison for money laundering charges. His sentencing is scheduled for February 9, 2027.
